It was May 15, 1981, damp, a small crowd of only 7,290 at Cleveland Municipal Stadium when Len Barker made baseball history when he pitched a perfect game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Barker, who resides in Geauga County, operated a construction and remodeling business, which he learned from friends while living in Georgia, both during his playing days with the Braves and after his retirement from baseball.

He is currently pitching coach at Notre Dame College in South Euclid.
